I have Sherwood Outback 2001 model BCD with maybe 30 dives (I got it new a year ago on great discount - it was in a package, never used).

I was diving yesterday and one of the weight pocket broke. I noticed it on the shore, did not loose weight - see photo below.

Is this normal? It seems crazy to me. Anybody else having similar issue? New pocket is almost $50 !! Almost makes me buy weight belt, the only problem is the weight belt does not fit that well with this BCD.

I wouldn't think it's normal.. they'd have a hard time staying in business. Prolly just one of those things, haveta suck it up and buy A new one. Now lets watch and see if people come and tell ya to switch to a BP/W :D

I got it on scuba.com - but dam, that thing isn't cheap, Sherwood Outback is pretty long BCD with thick strap around your waist, it's very hard to put weight belt under it - well it's possible but it's far from quick to find and release....

oh well

It might be worth it to contact Sherwood directly. IIRC, Scuba.com is an authorized dealer for Sherwood. If you were the original purchaser (the BC wasn't used, traded in etc) then S/W might replace the pocket for you. The worst they could say is "no, you'll have to buy one".

My brother just replaced his Mares Pegasus BC with a Zeagle Ranger because he lost 3 weight pockets in 8 months! At first I thought he was overloading the pockets but he was 2 pounds under the max. I never had problems with my SeaQuest Balance and I had it for 2 years.
