Being a male and very heavy into diving I'm always interested in a females pint of view. After all that is waht makes the world go around.

For example a few months ago I was diving with a female in my dive club, I won't mention the name of the club, becuase I don't want to invite unwarranted intrusions into her private life. Any ways sthe person is now a dive master and will probably go on to become a very good instructor. The person was wearing a dry suit.

After the dive she mentioned that she had to make a dash to the nearest camode, because there isn't a vent for female divers in a dry suit like there are for us males, which I didn't know that. Anyways I don't know why someone doesn't come up with a system that could accomadate women divers comfortably like they have for us males?

I wear a normal wet suit, but if I was a female I'd be darned if I'd purchase a important piece of diving equipment that I could not wear and be comfortable in.

If it was really a big deal for her, she could wear an incontinence undergarment. Lots of women who do extended duration drysuit dives apparently choose that option.

And then reality set in.

First, let me say "there is nothing comfortable about the relief system for males", at least as far as I'm concerned.

Second, women are not quite built the same way men are. lol There is nothing to attach to, therefore any device created would have to be some kind of catch basin. I can't see how that could possibly be made comfortable.

Sorry to say, the only option is the adult protective undergarment.

Yep you guys got it. "Nappies" for grown ups are the only way to go. Well, there are other options, but they are really sub-optimal. Some testing has been done with a device made for female pilots- apparently it works quite well, but requires one to be vertical, rather than horizontal (not too good for us divers). Catheterization is also an option, and one I have considered for extnded dives- however the risk of infection is pretty high- plus you've got to either be a contortionist or someone else to insert said catheter.

Hope that helps.

I was just going to ask about catheterization. I thought they made something that for lack of a better explanation, slid in and then was taped on the outside. I guess the possiblity of infection makes it not a good choice though.

I have yet to install a p-valve on my suit. After yesterday's dives, I think it's going to happen. Would it be wrong to ask for this for Christmas?

What did you get him instead? Sorry, had to ask.

There's a topic for a thread...

If you can come up with a good way to do that, I think you'll be able to sell a lot of them.
