This may be an obvious answer but I am going to ask the question anyway. Is there any difference between the Alpha 8 Octopus and the second stage of an Alpha 8 regulator. I just purchased a Delta 4 with an Octopus. I do a lot of diving in the North East. If I just jump in the inlet or head down to the keys as I have done in the past I think I would like to use the Octopus on the regulator. If I am diving on a NE wreck I would like to use the octopus as a second stage on a backup regulator on a pony bottle. Is this OK to do.

Also does anyone know where I can just purchase a first stage for the octopus?

octo's are usually the same as the primary 2nd stage. in the case of the alpha 8, im pretty sure its the same thing with a different face plate
