Raja Ampat with Tim & Simon on the Tambora
JUNE 27 thru July 6, 2015
Over the past few years we have done a number of exploratory trips starting, ending or passing through Raja Ampat; some of which itineraries, we are proud to say, have now become regular staples on the dive liveaboard calendar.
One thing we have noticed is that Raja Ampat diving is becoming better and better: more fish, more profuse corals and more representation by the top end of the food chain, big animals such as reef sharks, mantas and mobula rays. There can be high voltage, insane pelagic action!!
So there we were, at the tail end of our most recent adventure in the area in late 2014, in the Dampier Straits diving on sites such as Blue Magic and Sardine, enjoying flat calm seas, 100-ft plus visibility and dizzying quantities of marine life, thinking to ourselves, “you know, it can’t get much better than this!”
Uwe, the owner of Tambora, our ride of choice then and now, agreed and added, “you should see it in the summer months. It’s always like this!”
So we thought we would temporarily hang up our exploring boots and just run a trip visiting the best dive sites that north and central Raja Ampat have to offer, at a time of year when most liveaboards are over in Komodo and we should have many sites to ourselves; when on the surface, the ocean is like glass and, below the surface, the action will be insane!
Our friends agreed and we have 10 folks signed up but 2 people had to bow out just recently, opening up a room. If you want to see incredible Raja Ampat, read more here:
