Alerts generated for linked member names in posts?

I've seen a number of people include a linked member name in a post like so [ user="MemberNumber" ]Name[/ user ]. without spaces

I thought this was being done to trigger an alert, but after doing this a few times and the person not getting an alert, I guess not....unless there's an issue on my end, his end or on SB. Just wanted confirmation either way.

Ah ha! So it did. ok so apparently some people aren't using the person alert correctly & I copied them.

So all you are doing is putting @+username?

That's the design and quite often, the software will give you suggestions as you type in the name. Only one of those suggestions is correct, so choose wisely!
