As the title reads, I am diving with an aluminum 40 pony sling set up. How much more weight should I be diving with? I am 6'2" 235lbs, wear a 7mil and dive a steel 120 with 18lbs of lead normally. I increased the weight by 4lbs to 22lbs, on my last dive but after looking at some photos, it looks like my BC has alittle more air than there should be in it. The dive was The Spar at 113' in the pic below.

Good, bad or ok?

Catalina S40 has +1.7lbs when empty. So add 2 lbs (this would enable you to keep safety stop with back mount empty and S40 empty.

An empty AL40 with regulator is *about* neutral. I wouldn't change my weighting at all.

Oh, I forgot regulator. Rainer is correct. Sorry for misguiding.

I would say the tank is neutral with the reg on it. I just started slinging an AL40 as well and I dont find I need any additional weight.

An AL40 will actually float when it gets real low even with a reg. That said, I don't add any weight since it will rarely be low enough to get buoyant.

I Dive with a Catalina s30. I sling it .I am 5' 5"tall 170 lb. I use 12 lx wieght. I just shift 2 lb. To my right side to balance my trim I dive the same wieght with out the pony .I would not add any wieght just adjust for your trim
