Yep. This thing, or some version of it, makes the rounds once or twice a year.

In addition to the embolism risk, I'd be concerned about corrosion developing in the tank from improper filling and the tank exploding. Those hand pumps can generate a tremendous amount of pressure. Although I think the novelty would wear of it actually filling one of these a few times.

Wow, could be called "Pop a Lung."

I just took a quick look at their User Manual and Safety Guidelines." You have to get to the middle of a document that most people probably won't read to find, "Never hold tour breath during ascent or descent." Perhaps that should be a bit higher in the list and repeated a few times.

Though I did hear they have a new offering on development: SCUBA lawn darts;-)
