I've been around Goliaths while freediving for 20+ yrs, West Central Fla., and I've seen some monsters. The only aggressive ones that I've encountered have been around bridges, several of which had to be held off at spearpoint until I could backpaddle out of "thier" area. None of these encounters have been with anything more than maybe 400# or so but it's still spooky.
