My son and I leave for Curaçao on Sunday (12/26). We’ve booked 2 tank dives for the mornings on the 27th to 29th, and we get unlimited tanks for shore diving. Are there any guides who lead groups in the afternoon or at night from the shore? He’d prefer a guide to going on our own.

We are going in January, our first trip there. But I done a lot of research on what’s available. First, where are you staying? If in/towards town you should try Welcome to The Dive Bus, Curacao - The Dive Bus Curaçao and Diving in Curacao with Ocean Encounters | PADI and SSI Dive Shop. Blue Bay has a dive shop that might have some options. They are more central. On the west end you have Home - Go West Diving and Sublime diving | The Way to Experience Diving. I’m sure there are more, but this should give you a good start.

We are diving with Ocean Encounters for the 2 tank am dives. I did see the Dive Bus, but it looked like they offered morning dives. I will ask them about afternoons.

We regularly use both Ocean Encounters and The Dive Bus. Happy with both. OE also offers boat dives and has a full service shop at Lions Dive hotel. If you are staying at Lions Dive, there is a great shore dive from their beach. Just wade out, drop down and follow the rope west. There are often octopi and squid in the shallows on the way back.

I'd check with whomever your unlimited tanks are through and see if they have a DM/Guide who would show you around...

Dive Bus might put you in the water with one of their guides in the afternoon on their "house reef" across the street from their shop.. There are two dive sites I've done there multiple times: Pierbaai (shallows) and Car Pile (deeper). This is also a really good night dive with them. Worth an email or Skype call. They are some great folks.

How many dives do the two of you have? If you are both in good health and competent & confident in the water with more than a couple dozen dives, you should be able to dive many of the shore does in Curacao as an unguided buddy team.
