I'm based in London and planning a dive trip, hopefully September or October.
Mozambique seems to have 2 or 3 main dive sites: Ponta Do Ouro+Malonge, Inhambane+Tofo, and Bazaruto (Bazaruto less so for megafauna)
While South Africa has Aliwal and Protea banks from Durban.
Having a hard time deciding where to base myself for diving. I am just interested in good diving as both sites seem to promise both sharks, pelagics, and good reef life. I do have a preference for whales although I know those are hard to come by. Appreciate if anyone has advice on:
1. Is this a good month to go diving?
[It seems fine as long as its before November]
2. How many days should I spend diving and should I explore other areas?
[I am unsure about this but I would imagine a week to do 15 dives (5x3) seems the best
4. Any recommended operators?
Mainly heard to go with Peri Peri, ScubaXCursion, Diversity
5. What else do you recommend doing in the area? Sometimes I just spend the entire holiday diving and realise I missed out on a few cultural gems, or did not explore as many dive sites as I should.
6. Just in general how well do you recommend the locations? I had considered doing the Red Sea again from Egypt, or Zanzibar, but I think I might land on Mozambique though Durban comes a close second.
