I've been looking at the Aeris Wahine BCD for woman but I haven't found any reviews (I'm not sure if its relatively new or if just nobody likes it) - does anybody know anything about it? I'm looking for a womans BCD with weight integration than also has the ability to add the secondary air source (instead of using an octopus). I haven't decided if I want rear inflated or jacket inflated. Does anybody have the Aeris Wahine BCD or have another they recommend that fits this description? Thanks!

It is almost exactly identical to the Contour that has been around a lot longer. I know a few girls who like it but have never got a more detailed review. Hope that helps

Hi jcate! I am also in the market for a women's BCD, and today was reading about the Oceanic Hera - it is weight integrated and can accommodate the safe second (they call it the Optional Air XS 2 Alternate Inflator). I believe it's a hybrid of back and jacket BCD. (I apparently haven't made enough posts on this board to be allowed to include URLs, but just google it and take a look at the specs at the Oceanic site.)

For what it's worth, I'm still looking, because though I like the looks of the Hera, it is a bit pricey. The other one I'm considering is the Genesis Sirene. It looks pretty similar, but right now is on sale at LeisurePro for almost half of what the Hera costs. (Check out the LeisurePro site.)

Good luck, and let us know what you end up with!

My understanding is a lot of the Aeris products are rebadged Oceanic products. So you may keep that in mind, and please if anyone knows any different correct me if i'm wrong. I am looking at a Aeris 5 oceans BCD myself (male) for my first unit, and its hard to find reviews on it also.

Bought one for my wife a month or so ago, and after 1 dive she loves it. She was contemplating a Zeagle Zena or whatever as well, and ended up going for the Aeris because of the pockets and the inflation pattern. (If that's what you call it) Though, I've got my suspicions that she went with the pretty Hawaiian/Tribal patterns more so than the functionality. ;)

I also have an Aeris LX and love it. So far neither one of us have any complaints. :)

I have a 2nd Gen Aeris Atmos XT (predecessor of the LX) and I really like the amount of lift & the fact that it's a hybrid inflation BC: mostly back with some side. Also the number of dumps is great.

I don't use the integrated weight system.

It's not "female specific", rather a BC that fits my needs. My only complaint of that model is that I don't think it has enough pocket space. The problem may have been corrected in subsequent models.

I think I've had it at least 6 years in various dive environments (fresh, salt; warm, cold...). And it's still going strong.

JMHO,
