Hi,

I wanna attach another wing onto my black diamond because the wing is too narrow for doubles in case if i need to inflate and also i am diving wet down here in Indonesia. Is this possible as the backplate (even though is plastic made) already have drilled holes? And if possible which wing (by Brand name) to b recommended?

Thanks.

I have a Black Diamond and it's rated for 50 lbs of lift. That's more than enough for a set of doubled AL 80's and I feel sure that it would even handle my HP 120's. I have three BP/W setups with bladders from 40 for my two singles and a 55 for my doubles.

Although the brochure that came with my Black Diamond said it would work with doubles I really can't see it lasting very long. It will handle a single HP 120 with no problem but I just can't see trying to adjust all the straps and snaps when a simple harness would work much better.

For $350-$500 you can buy a stainless steel backplate, a true doubles wing and one piece harness that will handle all the tanks you want to strap on. Northeast Scuba Supply, Scuba Toys, and Tobin are just a few of the people that could set you up with the right equipment.

I know that you're thinking you want backup with a second wing if you'r diving wet. You can swim a set of AL 80's to the surface if you have a total wing failure if you're properly weighted. Are you really going to be going deep enough to need a set of big steel tanks?

I would scrap that whole idea. Doubles....get a hard plate and a simple harness made from 2 inch webbing....see Dive Rite, Apeks, Halcyon, Deep sea Supply, Ummm anyone else ? oh yes OMS ...you are trying too hard with all the mods to that black diamond...shouldn't have to work that hard....have fun

When i lived in New zealand, i had a 123 cu steel tank that works perfectly for me and with the black diamond. But now in Indonesia, i cannot find that sorts of tank only AL80 is available which is not enough for me as i suck lots of air. I was thinking of adding the Ultimate Velcro Band from aqua explorer or i just carry a stage bottle. which is better?

Stage, safer because you can manage any problems that arise. If it's on your back, you can't reach it. Doubles will give you more air.

Doubles in lieu of the stage, if you have to buy another regulator anyway..........
