Adding thumbnails to Posts

I can add photos or thumbnails from the gallery.

But can't figure out how to add them so when a thumbnail is clicked on it opens the photo in the post with buttons for next and previous for the other thumbnails.

Hope I explained this question. My thumbnails lead to the gallery.
