I was able to accomplish a few things this year.

June- I got myself a nice DPV to start getting familiar with. Man,... that thing is a blast!

Aug./ Sept.- I went to the Galapagos Islands & had a 45- 50 ft whale shark pass within a few feet of me- CHA CHING!!!:D

Oct.- I finally completed my Full Cave course, after 2yrs & 3 attempts.:dance3:

Dec.- I logged my 500th dive. I have been diving for just a little over 5yrs. I have had a goal of averaging 100 dives a year for some time. My first year was very slow, learning to find buddies to dive with. I've been making up ground ever since.:crafty:

What's for 2011? Well, I plan to work on getting a lot of experience in cave diving, I'm looking at certification to teach scuba to the disabled, Maybe even start cracking into some trimix training & dive! Dive! Dive!

Oh, let me see, I didn't have any diving goals at the beginning of the year, so 2010 was an excellent year for me with respect to diving progress.

Hi, 2010 saw me learn to dive, after many years of procrastinating... logged 32 dives since June, when I got my open water. 2011 should see me continuing to learn and enjoy diving.:D

What happened in 2010:
Rediscovered how much I love diving
Dove in Key Largo
Did my first fresh water dive in Lake Travis, in cooler water, with low viz
Increased my max depth from 55' to 92'
started building up my gear (slowly)

Goals for 2011:
AOW in May, Rescue diver by the end of the Summer
Begin DM in December (maybe)
get training in dry suit
Go on a weeks dive vacation
buy more equipment
Break into the 25-49 logged dives group and potentially breaking into 50-99 group!
Drink more...post dive of course :blinking:

I don't think of diving in terms of goals and accomplishments, but rather as the antidote to an overly-goal-oriented existence. Which is probably why I didn't post in last year's thread. But in the spirit of the thread, 2010 was the one of the worst diving years in the last ten; I only managed about thirty dives on long-weekend trips to Bali, Phuket, and the Philippines. If the time had been spent with family and friends, I'd be okay with it, but it was mostly spent at work. That will be remedied this year. I will take at least four of the six weeks of vacation that my contract stipulates. I will spend at least two of those weeks within a stone's throw of a coral reef. I will get 75 dives in, at least.
