Hi
i am a scuba diver and i love all marine life! I went to Maldives, French Polynesia, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia, Philippines,...different enviroment and different marine life..all beautiful!!
Now I would like to try a submarine experiencein order to achieve the abyss. I know in gran Cayman is possible to Descend to 1000 feet in a highly personalized tour aboard a real research submarine.
have you got any information? Do you know if there is another place in the world where is it possible to go into abyss?

As far as I know they're it. There are other submarine tours, but they don't go that deep.

FYI, the "abyss" starts at 9,000-15,000 feet. A weenie thousand foot dive merely gets ya' off the continental shelf. You don't wanna go to the abyssal plain anyway... there's far more to see on the continental slope.

i dunno of any sub. tours but...i heard and saw an i-max on volcanos of the deep..and theres supposedly life in 700 degree waters on the bottom of the ocean...i wanna see it!!

There are whole communities of animals that get their energy from the seeps on the bottom of the ocean down there, its pretty amazing. Robert Ballard did work in submersibles and with ROVs, he did a program with live satelite feeds to students while diving down on the hydrothermal vents. Thats what made me want to study marine biology. Hope you get to go down and see it too some day!

According to information from a Stan Waterman presentation at DEMA last week, The Undersea Hunter is about to offer submarine trips off Cocos Island. The rides won't be cheap, but it looks like a fantastic opportunity.- Clay
