Combining the power supply, driver correctly, and a LED could function properly. The LED drivers amplify or reduce the voltage from the batteries to the correct level for the LED, and control the amount of current that can be delivered. There are two main types: constant current driver and constant voltage driver.

*Constant current driver
The constant current LED driver is designed for a range of output voltages and a fixed output current. Evan though the voltage fluctuates, the current driven to the LED can be maintained at the specified level. A constant current driver is good to drive high power LED lights, as they can pass the max specified current of the LED to avoid burnout, and maintain a consistent brightness. It’s found that these drivers are easier to control in the application, and they can achieve more stable brightness. Contrary to voltage, controlling the current can more accurately control the power loss in the LED, helping designers predict the failure rate more accurately than when using a constant voltage power supply.

*Constant voltage driver
An LED light rated for constant voltage usually specifies the amount of input voltage. The driver will maintain a constant voltage, no matter what kind of current load is put on it. They are used for LEDs that require a stable voltage and have been adjusted with a simple resistor or built-in constant current driver in the LED module. As for applications, the constant voltage driver may be slightly less efficient, but it enables a full flexibility to allow a greater final load size.
