Hello

I'm a new diver and looking at buying some basic stuff.
BCD .. OCTOPUS ... REG S ... GAGES ...

I found some good prices on ebay but dont know what to look for ...

So my ? is what should i be looking for out of my Equipment? I plan on diveing a few time a year. Mostly in utah but will be traveling to the ocean atleast once a year.
I realy like wreck diveing and would like to be a cave diver. I only have my ow so i'm looking for equipment that can grow with me. This does not have to be my last setup but i would like it to be good stuff and last a few years.

Any advice would be very helpfull ...

Thank you in advance ...

Welcome to ScubaBoard, You'll find millions of answers to your equipment questions. Just click on top of any page on the "Forums" button. You'll find hundreds of topics. . . scroll down till you reach the equipment reviews. Bouyancy compensators, regulators, gauges, each has it's own section. Every diver there will give you their opinion. Many will describe the only piece of gear they've owned. There will be opinions from experienced divers that have dove with many different brands, and models. You will find all of the new gear will work well, there will be differences in fit and comfort, but new gear will work.

Shopping for used gear, in pawn shops, or ebay is something only experienced divers should risk. Some things offered for sale used, may be corroded, or missing parts. There have been lots of divers that have used their gear very little, then put everything in a garage and waited 20 years to resell it. There are tanks for sale used, that have been over preassured to the point of failure.

You're a new diver and you want to get started. . . STOP! Shop every dive shop within driving distance, and rent whatever brand they have. After you have tried several brands, you'll find one brand is more comfortable than the others. What you choose has to fit you, not me. If I tell you, you have to buy what I did. . . it will work, but it may not be as comfortable for you.

Thank you for the help....

After I listed this one i started looking around and found the equipment forums and listed the same ? there ... I agree that i should be looking at new gear and not used ..

I tryed to rent form a few places and found that only one shop in town has good rentle gear. Some of the gear I've rented was scarry ... The only place in town to have good rentles only ofers one rentle brand (oceanic) . So I thought I would buy some stuff ... not looking for the latest and gratest just some stuff to get me the next few certifications ...

Anyway thanks for the feed back ..

I think you would be best served to ask this question in either the basic scuba discussions forum, or the equipment forum. Pick one! :D

You may also want to spend some time reading currently threads in both of the aforementioned forums as these types of questions are asked frequently.
