I've seen lots of o-rings in my day....and the one that came with the Canon U/W housing I own (still brand new with only 5 dives) just doesn't seem to be of the best quality compared to o-rings supplied with many instruments used in other industries. So far it's done its job, but I just don't like what I see or feel when I inspect it before sealing my camera up in the housing. It's just not nearly as perfect as I've seen and I can see/feel tiny imperfections (tiny lumps and small pieces of rubber) in various locations around the ring not present in other o-rings.

Has anyone researched other suppliers of industial o-rings? I really feel that there are better o-rings available and I've thought about getting measurements (diameter/length) and trying to find a better quality product....There are many different materials available including silicone rubber out there. Anyone?

Can't say that I have done any research but my canon a70's o-ring has done it's task. Haven't noticed anything funny about the o-ring but then again I'm not an expert on o-rings. What camera do you have? I've done some 50+ dives with my a70 and had no problems with the o-ring. Althoug now I'm upgrading to oly c-8080 and pt-023. We'll see how things turn out with that set :)

Another vote for it doing its job. My A20 has over 400 trips to the ocean on its original orings; my A70 had over 150 and the A75 is coming up on 100.

I have never messed with the other orings - they all seem perfectly ok.
