Legislation which can lay the groundwork for artificial reefing on the California coastline will be voted on by the state assembly Tuesday, Jan. 19. Support for AB 634 is crucial, and now is the time to send your Assembly representative a fax, email or phone call, announced California Ships to Reefs.

The Assembly bill, which exempts governmental agencies from liability in the event of a diving accident on an artificial reef, was unanimously passed out of committee this week. It was scheduled for Third Reading and a vote today, but the Assembly was adjourned in memory of several public servants who passed away. The additional time gives people who value creating more diving, fishing and recreational opportunities on the coastline time to tell their representatives to vote for AB 634.

If you haven’t already contacted your Assemblymenber, please do so prior to Tuesday. If you don’t know who your Assemblymember is visit The California State Assembly.
