I just got my A95 based on all of the recommendations I got for it and I have a couple of quick questions, but first let me say I love the camera and it takes great pictures. The first question is in regards to the zoom lens, when it zooms in and out it seems to be noisy, just more so than I'm used. Not real loud or anything but you definitely can hear it. It also seems there is a longer delay or shutter lag than I remember on the demo model and just wanted to make sure everything was alright and I didn't need to head back to the Camera Store. Thank-you,

Joe

congrats on your purchase!
You'll find the shutter lag varies depending on a few things:
1) mode -- 'M' mode reduces the shutter lag to almost 0. Anything else takes time to do the exposure calculations.
2) focus mode -- manual focus takes less time... but you have to be able to set it correctly; auto focus isn't bad; and auto-macro focus takes the longest (but is necessary to auto focus objects that are very close).

HTH!

Thank-you everyone that took care of the shutter lag I'm just still not sure if the motor operating the zoom is supposed to be noisy. Its not loud about as load as a cell phone on a low ring.

good advice

Well, I'm not sure what to compare it to.

Would mine wake up a sleeping baby? Probably not. Would it be audible in a silent room? Maybe. Can I hear it from several feet away with some background noise... not that I can recall.

Does that help? :-)
