Another newbie looking for a camera.

Is there some feature that makes the A80 better then the A85, and justifies its extra expense? The A80s (new) I've been able to locate online are $300+ but there are plenty of sub $200 A85s. Have I just not found the right site? I'd like to have a setup that is easy to use, but offers the ability to add lens and/or stobe later if I choose. Dave

Can't answer your questions on A80 vs A85. I do however have an A80 and am expanding my setup to include additional lenses and a strobe. Check out my thread, "strobe and lense for A80"...

I know, I know!

Yes, the A80 is better than the A85. The A80 has a metal housing and a fold-out screen... in fact, the A80 has more in common with the A95 than the A85... it's just the resolution that they share.

The A85/95 adds the pre-made "Scene" modes (of which there is an underwater one), but they are likely inferior to acutally using the "M" mode and going manual.

As mentioned, both the A80 and A85 are 4mp. The A95 replaced the A80 in the product line; as the A85 replaced the A70. Given a choice, I'd take the A80 over the A85 any day, but the A95 trumps all!

Hope that helps,
