Im wanting to fire an external flash without the on camera flash reaching the subject. Can this be accomplished on the A720 by covering the on camera flash with the external flash censor?

Yes, sorta. The Inon Clear View system is one approach. The film passes only infrared and it is infrared that the strobe senses to fire. Exposed color negative film can also be used to block visible light. N
