For other A70 users, how did you weigh your housing down to get neutral bouyancy? And how much weight did you need?

Thanks!

Canon now has a weight set to neutralize the whole DCx0 case series. Same set, different # of plates depending on the case you have.

I've got one on order for my own new case (DC60, for the Canon A520) but I can't help wondering if I couldn't just wrap a couple of quarters in something like electrical tape to give them some traction so they can't move around, and wedge them inside the case beneath the camera...

I added a 4" stainless stell snap bolt to mine which works out just about perfect. It also attaches the camera to me when not in use.

I like having it a little bit positive to keep it up off the bottom if I let go of it.

I had a friend coble together a simple tray. The tray is aluminum and the handle is wood (for now). This seems like a much more secure way of hooking the camera to you than the plastic anchor points. Also, the handle lets you brace the camera against a rock without scratching up the housing (I do enough of that anyhow).

Hmmm....slightly positive eh? I never thought about that, it's a good idea, especially on a wall dive where the bottom can't be seen (remember Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy - "If you ever drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let 'em go, because, man, they're gone." (From here))

I think I'll try the bolt or something similar so it's slightly positive, THANKS!

I can't say that I have had that problem because I always mount my case on a tray and use an external strobe. Even in those situations where the strobe is not necessary, the tray provides a better grip than the camera case when wearing cold water gloves.

I am looking into getting an underwater camera. I currently own a cannon a75...should I get a housing for this camera and a side strobe or do I just purchase a sealife reefmaster package from scuba.com

The A75 is a great UW camera. The housing costs only $170 and that's all you need to get started. A big advantage is that you already know how to use the A75. You doneed to memorize the location of all the buttons as you can't see through the case well Later you can add a strobe tho the A75.

If you want a bomb proof housing get the Ikelite one. costs at least double what the canon housing costs but it is very much more sturdy and better made. but the canonhousing is good if yu take care of it.
