A640, Sea & Sea YS-27D

Does anyone have a A640 paired with the Sea & Sea YS-27D strobe? All you Canon experts, would this be a good combination for a beginner photographer? I was also thinking of going with the new SeaLife 961D strobe. Which of the two would you prefer. I don't plan on moving up to a SLR. I just like to take some amatuer photos for myself and to share with my dive buddies. I would just like to add a strobe to my A640 without breaking the bank.

I have that setup--the only problem is that the 640 A doesn't get any wider than 35mm. If you haven't already purchased the setup, I'd recommend the Canon sd 870 wide angle camera instead.
