Good job of selling on the course....I don't think I would take the certification seriously and rebuild my own regs or something..............

The ad clearly stated that the purpose of the course was not to teach how to service your gear, but rather to explain how it works.

Take a garden variety vacation diver. 90% of them neither know whether they are diving piston or diaphragm, nor they want to know. For the 10% who do want to know this course can be quite valuable.

IndigoBlue:
Zeagle has some really great Tech and 911 models, many times more comfortable and versatile than a backplate model.

There are lots of good choices available. One style does not meet the needs of all.
I have several Zeagles( good BCD's) and 4 back plates. I will take the back plate over the BC any time. And it is also much more versatile. Did you ever try hanging two 80 cu ft ponies from a Zeagle, or how about side mount.

I've been looking for a good anchor-retractor...........If you know where I can find one, please inform. Thank You

I saw one on Leisure Pro, and they are a certified dealer for the manufacturer so the warranty is even good. Would have bought one myself, but they only had the 10-lb. anchor-retractor in stock, and I really want to find some 50-lb. anchors and retract them--that is, after I've taken the class and am qualified to retract anchors that big.

:D

Your shop must have been much more honest then the one I was using about 10 years ago. $100.00 for the equipment course and I learned basicly nothing.

What is the point of this thread other than to call 99.9% of all divers stupid and inform us that dive stores sometimes sell some dumb assed items. Something which we all knew anyways.

I can't really understand why that would come across any gentler in real life George..I mean Boogie.

You were not born perfect. I'll bet money on it. Be careful not to slip on your soapbox. It's a long fall from the top of the cyber DIR diving world.

Barry... dude - no soapbox here. There was an earlier thread where some people were wondering how people could have the audacity to call certain items a tax on the gullible. The entire thread is in reference to the term.

I know I'm not the only one to have used it - but am merely explaining my rationale for its use.

Take a few deep breaths with some extra nitrogen dude - it will be OK.

I have yet to dive anything as versatile as my BP/W, and yes I have dove many different kinds of BC's.

You know Jeff I can't tell you how to act but you were the last person to use the term not that it matter who used it first or last.

Without some sort of disarming word sequence like, "not that I haven't bought some dumb stuff in my day." you just come across as just another know it all cyber DIR diver which is nothing more than the mirror opposite of IndigoBlue. No one in their right mind takes him seriously and even he knows that.

It's abrasive and not at all role model mentoring behavior. No one likes to be mocked. No one likes to be called stupid, gullible or otherwise. No one is perfect.

You know I don't mind stepping in directly with someone who is begging for it but just throwing out generalizations about people such as, "pink split finned, snorkle wearing vacationers...", is just not the kind of P.R. that the DIR community needs. This unfortunately is fast becoming your primary mode of humour. There are enough of those creeps on the internet already. As a public relations "specialist" you show an enormous lack of common sense in this department. It's embarrassing.

The cliff of comedy borders precariously on the valley of the negative creeps. Don't slip.

You guys have convenced me of the ignorance of my ways. With any luck I will be at my local dive shop door when they open tomorrow..........lets see, I will need a new snorkel retainer, tank banger, fin sharpener, bang stick, (all in florescent green) and don't forget the all important 15' long super safety sausage with the red beacon on top for warding off stray aircraft......

Hmmm... you know what - this may surprise you, but I'll accept that.

It's definitely food for thought. Besides - does anyone actually LIKE GI3, anyway?

Tact has never been my strong suit. I never needed a spell checker, but maybe I could use a tact checker.

I still think the reason why Jarrod is against full face masks has nothing to do with Co2 buildup but is entirely because he couldn't stand the idea of listening to George for a 6 hour dive. :D

Sorry. I didn't see that bus coming Jeff. I'll call ahead next time.
