# of dives

1. As an advanced diver, what would be your perfect dive vacation package (# of dives, # of days, types of dives, etc.)? (not talking about the ones that may currently be available, unless one of those is "perfect" for you, but about the package you would put together to suit your needs) (pls exclude liveaboards)

2. As a novice diver, the same question.

3. If not everyone in your family is a diver, would you take them with you if there are other activities they can get involved in while you dive and dive and dive?

4. Are there any "build-your-own" dive vacation packages around? Are they any good? (The ones I have come across are more like "take-it-or-leave-it")

Why all these questions? For years I have had this idea about operating sort of a dive travel agency (I know there are some around but my idea has some twists). Recently someone approached me with a similar line of thinking and who knows, maybe we can come up with something. Anyways, it is so early in the process that is not even worth getting too much into it. In any event, I figured you guys could be kind enough to lead me in the right direction with your ideas.

I would love to see something along the lines of build-your-own-dive trips but I suspect the cost would be a prohibiting factor. If that's what you're thinking of doing, I think it's a good idea.

For instance, most places offer so many dives per day x the number of days of the trip and maybe I don't want to dive every day, maybe I want to take one day and do a tour that takes the entire day. If I've paid for a package that includes that much diving, I may feel like I have to dive every day. A little flexibility here would be really nice.

well, maybe a "built-your-own" within certain boundaries could feasible. For example, you could choose the # of dives/per day and the type of dives (wreck, deep, wall, drift, etc.) and then the agent would pair you up with divers choosing the same dives. Thus, if you want a 7-day package with only 4 dives (2 boat/2 night), the agent should be able to coordinate those dives with groups that chose those same dives, while you would be able to fill up the free time with other stuff.
