I have been reading as much as i can but i have one more question. On a live a board i should rinse in the camera tank and then remove the camera after everydive and store in safe location? Only open when i need to change card or charge battery? I have pent a lot ofmoney this week, not ready to mess up. I will be using a Canon 40d ikelite housing with a 60mm lens, and ds125 strobe. can't wait
thanks mike

#1 - get insurance. Don't dither about it, just do it :)

#2 - rinse tanks are for rinsing. Quick dunky and out. Do not leave your rig in there and don't walk away from it at all.

Pretty much I give 'er a dunk then pop it back into my collapsible cooler - you can get them for cheap at Target and the like. Get a slightly bigger one than you think you might need so you don't have to spend as much time futzing with getting everything in it. I also have a towel to lay over it or dry it off or whatever needs doing.

I do not open my housing unless I need to.

Actually on every liveaboard we have been on the crew has advised that people who leave cameras in the dunk tanks are more prone to flooding - they think perhaps it has to do with the heat buildup. Where are you headed?

I was reading on Canon's website (I am sure this can be applicable to any housing) they said to soak your housing in the rinse tank for a short period of time. Then their kicker is to soak it again for a long soak when you return home (without the camera in it) also be sure to manipulate all the buttons while it's soaking.
