A great solution, I just don't know what the problem is...

I was killing time at the welding supply shop and I noticed these plastic welding rod holders. They come in different lengths, but they're all about 3-4" in diameter. One end screws off and is sealed by a square-sectioned O ring. Looks like they'd be watertight, especially if you replaced the square-sectioned O ring with a round one (and maybe touched up some flashing). They're not a rigid as a canister light canister, but fairly stiff.

Looked like maybe a great way to carry an EPIRB or something that needs to be kept dry during a dive. A shorter one would help, but for an off-the-shelf thingie they looked pretty good!

EPIRB= Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon. When activated it sends out a signal that the Coast Guard or others can follow to your location. Boats and planes use them most frequently.

If you are planning on needing an EPIRB I would like to know what trip you're signed up for so I can avoid it, or are you going to just, for example, drift the gulfstream.
