Known as a Mu in Hawaii, it's a Big Eyed Emperor. Very standoff-ish and will just stare at you. Scattered when in groups. Interestingly, they have molars!
 
My best guess is Monotaxis grandoculis. I would call it a Porgy, but I believe that locals would call it a Mu.
