Hello from a relatively new diver out here in West Texas!

Seems I see open water so rarely I just have to do more than just jump in!

I only have 14 dives and all except one were in the low vis lakes here in Texas. (The only clear water dive was in the very shallow Balmorrhea state park).

I'm still hoping to one day be able to dive and not lose my buddy in the murk!

Later.......

and a warm welcome from north of the 49th! You will have a grand time here, though some of those fellow Texans...... well you gotta watch out for some of them.

Welcome from a fellow Native Texan. The Texas bunch of us is doing a dive at Lake Travis the 27th and 28th. You are welcome to join us.

lived a young diver named "Deadeye"...Marty Robbins lives and thrives!

Welcome to the Board, Ojo Muerto, and the zany cast of characters who dive in and out of these waters...ever seen anybody dive out of water? No? Then just wait till Iguana Don hits the scene! Then, of course, there was the nearly forgotten Warhammer Manuever..........

So, pull up a fin and enjoy the water...the temp is right, the vis is great and you are WELCOME !

Joewr...looking for the Cantina...

Welcome, Deadeye, from NJ
I think you'll soon find many other "texas divers " on this Board.
They are a great bunch, as are the other folks around here.
Welcome, and good luck,
Miked

A big Texas HOWDY to ya!

As Tom said, we (the NDI Texas Swamp Diving Team) are headed down to Lake Travis at the end of the month and we would love to have you join us!!! Lots of diving, good grub, prizes, tshirts, and much more!

Check out the announcement in the "Texas" Section on this board. E-mail me if you have any questions.

I'd like to give you a texas welcome but theres no way to offer up a BBQ on scubaboard, so you'll have to settle for a normal welcome.

I have been diving around dallas every weekend for a while so if you are in the area let me know..

Deadeye,

Where in West Texas are you? You should finish out your profile. I went to school in Abilene for a year. I read about a missle silo near there that filled up with ground water that has a dive platform inside it. I was thinking about checking it out one of these days. Have you been there? Also, isn't Balmorea Springs out there somewhere? Where do you dive? Again, welcome to the boards. You'll like it here.

Thanks for all the great welcomes, and I am checking out the Travis trip to see if I can make it.

Also, I edited my profile to give a little more information.

The missle silo is called Valhalla and is run/owned by the dive shop where I certified and it's in Abilene. Check out the link on http://www.familyscuba.com I understand it's over 100' deep and cold! Mark (the familyscuba guy) is discussing a possible New Year's eve dive at the site. Instead of sending a ball down, we'll send a balloon up! Hope it works out and we can do it.

I certified in Lake Travis at Windy Point and it was great even if the certification dive only had 6' visibility.

What do you think the vis will be like for the Halloween dive?

Seems like a great bunch of folks around here!

Oh, btw-- does anyone have feedback on the 'blue hole' in Santa Rosa, NM? Some of the people I know around here are thinking about a weekender there .......
