For the past few weeks, numerous people have been seeing large 7 gill sharks at La Jolla Cove. Yesterday, divers reported seeing dozens of 7 gill sharks. So, if you have a chance to dive La Jolla Cove soon, you should. Here is a video I put together from my scooter dive with the 7 gill sharks last weekend.

Oh man that's so cool. I gotta get out there to the Cove. Thanks for sharing!

I remember the first dive I ever did after being certified. I dropped down at the Cove with my more experienced buddy. Of course being new I dropped to my knees (buoyancy wasn't much of concept at this point) and I got ready to make eye contact with my buddy. I looked at him and expected him to give me the "OK" sign. Instead he pointed behind me. I turned and right there was a 7 gill sliding gracefully past me, less than 3 ft away. Pretty cool introduction to diving.

Anywhere in particular that you're seeing them? I'm not too familiar with the cove. Thanks!

I have been seeing them consistently in an area about 50 yards east and little bit north of Buoy A at the Cove. So, if you were surface swimming out to Buoy A from the Cove, just head a little right of the Buoy and once you are in line or a little past the buoy, drop down and look for the sharks.

very cool...they look prehistoric

Wow, nice video! I've seen a 7 Gill in La Jolla once several years ago, and it took me by surprise. If you are in the area, you all should check it out!

Cheers,
