I thought i'd post this after reading a lot on other sites about how difficult it is to get a 60 day tourist visa

I picked mine up in Kota Kinabalu yesterday. I was a little concerned as a couple of weeks ago i came back from Sumatra and used up a 30 day on arrival visa. The process was as follows:

- Turned up at Indonesian Embassy at 10am (You must wear trousers or you'll be refused entry)
- The whole place was mobbed and i thought oh my god i'm going to be here for hours
- Went to the visa counter to pick up the form and a queue ticket
- I was given two copies of the same form to fill out and a paying in slip to take to the Maybank next door, i was told to just drop the filled in forms off and not worry about queuing
- Filled in the forms and deposited 170 MYR at the bank
- Deposited forms and proof of deposit off at the counter and told to return at 10am next day
- Returned next day and picked up passport with 60 day visa

I did buy a flight out of Bali to Singapore but they never asked to see it but i did have to provide two photographs, that was it, no proof of funds etc

After all the horror stories it was refreshingly simple and uncomplicated

Despite there still being poor perceptions on Indonesia in general, and the odd horror story, they have improved tremendously since I started traveling there is 2008, and living there permanently in 2010. Their overall immigration and police corruption have improved a lot and many things are now much more simple and streamlined. Its not a perfect place, still many weaknesses to overcome but there have been clear and marked improvements.

Yes..but I think blue is also acceptable now for 60 day visa. not sure as I'm on a work permit
