Hi everybody,
I'm a long time reader/first time poster and I love this board! Thanks for everything so far and I hope get some advice for a trip I'm planning with a friend of mine.

Come October we want to go diving for at least 6 weeks. Destination can be anywhere with nice beaches and great weather. Since October to mid November is monsun as well as hurricane season, some destination are ruled out. So my question is: what is the perfect destination for this time of the year?
Of course we did some research and found that Palau, Bora-Bora, Mauritus and the Maledives seem to be good spots in October/November. Can you confirm that? Does anybody have a better suggestion?

My friend wants to make his Dive Instructor, I'm just looking for a couple of weeks of diving and to lie on a nice beach beach doing nothing (some sailing would be great :).

Cheers
Hendrik

Are you interested in doing shore dives? Day Charters? Are you giving any thoughts into doing a liveaboard for part of that time, and are you planning on spending 6 weeks in one place, or would you be up for travelling around hitting a few near-by places during that span?

Oct/Nov is the perfect time to go to Hawaii. I would say start there and do 2 weeks, one in Maui diving and one week over to Kona to do a few days of diving(must do the Manta night dives) and then visit the Volcano Nat'l Park and jungle/waterfalls for a few days.
From there, I would fly over to some place in the south pacific like Fiji or Palau or maybe Australia for 2-3 weeks. Palau's rainy season is Sept so keep that in mind.
Another option is Indonesia. Lots to see topside and underwater and not too expensive once you get there.

I would love to be able to afford a big trip like that!

Thanks for you answers, I see I could have provided some more information.

We would like to stay at one place since my friend wants to do his dive master. It's not a good idea to do this at two or more places, or is it?

No liveaboards, just day trips. Shore diving would be nice to have.

We thought that Indonesia would be bad during that time of the year? I will head over to that forum and double check that.

Cheers
Hendrik
