I know that the 8" dome port is recommended but I just can't drop that much money for wide angle, especially when I shoot macro most of the time.

So my question is....will I hate my picture if I buy and use the 6" dome (5503.15)? What are the drawbacks of using the 6" port vs. the 8" port?

I will be using the Nikon 10.5mm on a D70 (1.5x crop).

Thanks guys!

You will see noticeably soft edges using the 10.5mm lens with the 6" dome. Edge softness will vary depending on aperture, etc. Also it can be more difficult to shoot over-under with the 6" dome (more noticeable water spots on dome, focal distance).
