I'm just guessing until someone else comes along but the 5050 can handle a 2 gig, so I would guess that a 5060 would too.

Leesa, what kinda card do you use w/ your 5050?

I was just about to post a new thread on this subj, but guess I 'll add it here....

----------

I'm thinking of purchasing either a 1Gb or 2Gb RiData card for my c5050 camera. But I was wondering if there are any compatibility issues between the 2. The main thing being will the c5050 handle CF cards at this size?? I cannot test the card as I'm getting it shipped.

Also wondering if anyone has any input on card speeds? I've read that basically the c5050 has a limited read/write speed that won't take advantage of the newer, faster CF cards. Does anyone have any figures on this?

In anycase, I was thinking of buying a fast card anyway, incase I upgrade later...

What do you all think??

Aloha Lanwu,

I have fuji and oly xd chips which are only available up to 512 (or do they have something bigger now?)

As for the CF chips I have a Viking (?x) and a 52x RiData. I tested them against each other and couldn't say that one was faster than the other. I've had them for about a year and am satisfied with them.

I do remember reading in an older thread that the camera can't handle anything bigger than a 2 gig (or was it 2.2?) card. I know people that have 1 gig cards in their olys with no problems.

I would actually recommend that you don't use that large of a card unless you are doing video or whatnot. Reason: don't put all your eggs in one basket... I have lost/damaged several cards for different reasons. I always keep each days photos on different cards.

Yeah, buddy, I hear ya. However, I'm usually gone for a month at a time. I carry a CD burner to download into, but on my last trip to PNG, it proved unreliable. I'm glad I had a couple of 1 gig cards. It helped get me from one good CD burn to the next. Next big trip, I'll have a hard drive to download into. At least I'll know what's in there.
