It's a rare treat for me to find one of these completely out in the open.

Hawaiian Velvetfish Caracanthus typicus
They are always hiding in the coral.

That velvetfish picture is just stunning -- the sharpness and the texture and the contrast of colors. That's a keeper!
 
Pretty pictures, Jim. Really enjoyed the Snowflake Eel shots and the Hawaiian Velvetfish. I like the way you caught it peeking out from behind the coral.

It's been soooo long since I've seen a snowflake, think it was in my pre-camera days. How deep? I think I've seen more in 2-3 feet of water than at depth.
