Hi Guys,

I will probably be spending more money that I can afford and buying a 350D within the next month or 2 and am wondering what lenses are best.

It was recommended I get the Sigma AF 15mm f2.8 Diagonal Fisheye for my wide-angle lens, but then someone else said I should get the Sigma 12-24mm.

For the Macro Lens I have already decided to get the Sigma AF 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro.

As this is my first step into DSLR I was wondering if anyone had advise on the above.

Cheers
Adam

I have the Sigma 15 mm FE and like it

As for the 12-24, what housing will you be using and is there a port for that lens? As I recall, it's not a well supported lens port-wise. There is also the Canon 10-22, about $800 though.

Macro - have you looked at the Canon 60mm? Same 1:1 as the Sigma but Canon glass. For real macro, you're going to want the Canon 100 or Sigma 100 (105?, can't remember)

Thanks for the reply.

I have since been looking and have changed my wishlist to the following.

Sigma 18-50mm
Sigma AF 15mm f2.8 Diagonal Fisheye (Canon AF Fit)
Canon MACRO Canon EF-S 60mm
Canon EF-S 10-22mm

They will be used with an Ikelite housing and the 8" dome (makro lens will have its own flat port).

I heard the sigma 18-50 was better than the canon kit lens.

Hi Adam:

After a lot of research when I bot my 20D I chose the Canon 10-22 for WA and the new 60mm macro for the close stuff. I am very pleased with the selection. These lenses do have limited use for land shots.

Which Sigma 18-50 do you have in mind? The 18-50mm f2.8 is the one that's better. But the cheaper variable aperture is not.

Hi it was the Sigma 18-50mm f3.5-5.6 DC, I have a choice of lens that comes with the camera, it has to be one of the following.

Canon EOS 350D Body + EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6
Canon EOS 350D Body + Sigma 18-50mm f3.5-5.6 DC

Which of the 2 lens options above are better?

The extra canon lenses I am going to get are..

EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM Macro
EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Cheers

OK, I'd take the EF-S 18-55mm then. It is very sharp when stopped down and has gotten better reviews than the Sigma 18-50mm f3.5-5.6. However if you have the money for it, I'd take the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 EX instead, as it's a faster lens and should be sharp almost from wideopen.
