Thought there was a thread someone looking for a 2XL BC and I can't findit. I am also looking for such a beast WI preferable....

Butch :Peace:

All of the BP/Wings systems would be able to accomodate you (I've seen one on a guy who's 6'6" and 260 lbs, so I would say he's a 2x kinda guy).

Also the Zeagle Ranger & Concept BC's all have modular harness and cumberbund systems that can be swapped out for a custom fit.

There are probably many others as well.

I'm a big guy and I looked at Zeagler, Sherwood Outback, and the back plate and Wings. They all fit well but because I wanted 1 peice of eguipment that could work for all my diving I bought the BP/wings setup.

Butch,

Isn't it a pain to find things in larger sizes? It seems that diving is somewhat biased toward the thin people even though there are bigger people in great shape, like say football and even (dare I mention this in a post to a canadian?) Hockey players.

I already mentioned this but there is a site at TwoFatGuysScuba that sell only to those of large stature.

They have BCD's you could mount on a whale shark custom made for only a slight markup over the "scrawny" sized ones. They need to have a better selection of wetsuits though as all the big "tent" wetsuits are all 5mm and 7mm.

Long Live the "comfy" divers! <-- Quoted from a source who shall remain nameless but is quite a spitfire on this board!

I would highly recommend the Dive Rite Transpac II.
Just received mine (with integarated weight pockets)yesterday and LOVE it - although I have only tried it on around the house and haven't been diving yet! (My wife just laughs at me as I walk around the house trying to get everything tightened just right and make sure I can comfortably access all of my accessories.)

I am 6'6" and have a 54" waist - so am always looking for diving gear for the 'comfy' sized diver (although I have lost quite a bit of weight recently - did have a 60" waist a year ago....just have to keep it up) I couldn't get the above link to work - I'll have to try from home - sometime my company's firewall gets picky...

I just picked up 2 TransPacs on the 5th of October for my son and me. Mine is an XL (I am 6' and 260#), while my son's is a M/L. Both came straight from Dive Rite through my LDS. We met with DiveRite factory reps at a quarry in Alabama back in September during a dealer demo days and my son and I dove 2 dives with the TransPac II. We both immediately loved it! DiveRite gave us each a certificate good for free wieght pockets if we bought within 30 days of trying it out. We spent a little bit more ($21) and instead of the travel wings got the Rec Wings. This way in case my son and I ever decide to dive doubles or some other form of adventure, we can use the same BC. We also did get crotch straps. Can't wait to get back in the water again and break my own in. Plus, since my son is 13, DiveRite will replace the harness up to age 16 if he outgrows it, for free.

Some good pointers there -

I am an advocate for the BP/wing setup - but I would like to say that Dive Rite is extremely flexible too - if you need an XXL cumberband and a say M/L shoulder straps - that is no problem...

I chose to remove my cumberband all together and just use the belt itself - more comfortable for me that way - although I am not in your class...
6' 2" and 200 lbs of lean enriched air comsumption machinery...

Big T
