Hey Guys,

For Xmas my wife picked me up a S110 and a Nauticam housing to go with it, I will be moving away from a XZ-1 to this setup. I have a trip planned for the first week of March on Bonaire and I'm trying to decide which additional piece of gear to go with this setup. I mostly shoot macro and will continue to do so unless I ever pick up another wide angle lens.

I currently have the Inon UCL-165M67 (around +6 I believe) and a single s-2000 strobe. I'm trying to figure out if I would be best off purchasing a 2nd s-2000 strobe or a +10 Diopter lens (Subsee +10 or Inon UCL100m67 +10 diopter).

Obviously the lens is a lot cheaper than adding a 2nd strobe, but I'm trying to decide which would be better to buy now to go with macro shots...I know if I added another wide angle lens down the road the 2nd strobe would help a lot for that. I currently use a SOLA 600 for a focus light, so I'm set on that.

What are your thoughts, and am I missing something else that maybe I should consider purchasing?

I shoot with an S-95 and S-2000 and the UCL-165. For macro another strobe is probably overkill unless you have problems getting balanced light- to much shadows. I just added another UCL 165 to stack on the first. I'll know in a few more days how I like it.( I'll be in Tulamben then giving it it's first go. I do know the depth of field will be pretty limited.
With one UCL-165 I found my keeper shots rose considerably with a faster shutter speed.
If your to go with a wide angle lens you might want another strobe.

I was in the same boat last quarter, another lens or a 2nd strobe.

I was lucky enough to receive a subsee+10 as a gift (which I enjoyed using with a single strobe and sometimes stacked with the inon165). I got the 2nd strobe after a few months since I'll be going to Tubbataha this year. If im doing only macro, I wouldve been happy with using just one strobe. And my wallet would be happier too :)) YMMV.

All my underwater shots here were taken with a single S2000, and combinations of subsee+10 and Inon165. (Of course the whole fish shots were taken without any diopter) Flickr: mikdima's Photostream
