Hi,

This is sort-of a repaste from another forum, but I figured I'd ask here as well..

Hi, I just purchased an Hvalve and I found a DIN 1st stage that I am planning to purchase tomorrow.

My primary regulator is a Mares abyss 22, so i don't really feel that I need anything too fancy for my backup, just something that works and works well but isn't a burden on my check book.

I plan on giving an old aqualung 2nd stage a go, but would feel a bit more comfortable with a newer 2nd stage. Any suggestions are welcome.

I found a few different 2nd stages for decent prices, but I'm curious if anyone has used them or has comments on them. They are Oxycheq High Performance 2nd Stage,
Dive Rite RG2010, OMS Workhorse 2nd Stage. I seem to be having a hard time just finding second stages sold by themselves, other than octos.

Maybe I'm missing something, but based on use (I decided to try my octo while diving in 10 feet of water), my octo sucks. I'd like to avoid buying another expensive piece of useless stuff.

Here is one idea but any of the other quality 2d's are good. ScubaPro, AquaLung, Oceanic, etc.

I like Oceanic Omega II's. They are a great regulator and make a decent octo as well. Whether you donate your primary and breathe your octo or you donate your octo, the Omega II is a good choice. For one thing, there's no 'upside down' when you donate it. And it will deliver plenty of air at depth. The venturi action kicks in when you really start to gulp!

I know they are out of production, that's why I have cornered the world market via eBay. There's a 2d stage and a 1st/2d stage for sale on eBay. The 2d stage is item number 130293010110 I'm not bidding on it.

I have been using the same Omega II regulator and backup set since 1988. I have no plans to change.

Send it to DiveSports.com for service. Phil Ellis is a regular contributor to this board and the shop does good work.

Interesting, A close friend of mine uses those as well.
