Would love to leverage the massive battery compartment to go with a brilliant video head.

My search isn't showing anything suitable to squeeze into the 20mm head... any gems I've missed?

In a dream world, I'd like a COB LED with decent light quality. Gin clear cenotes, so just need a wide beam and a ton of light. (Fill the glass mantal with mineral oil for heat dissipation?)

Or anyone have a large blank head (50mm ID) I could use for ~10000lm chip?

Trying to avoid reinventing the wheel.

Ideas welcome.

20mm diameter or 20mm x 20mm?

cree cmt series comes to mind, but 20mm isn't a lot of room to work with

Good clarification! Unfortunately 20mm diameter. :( (could squeeze in 25mm particularly if I sanded it down)

The upside: weeks of burn time @~500 lm on the current led chip.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

I had narrowed my blanket search down to 225 chips... And now you've helped me narrow it down to 1 industry leader that checks all my boxes. (provided I go ahead with the tiny head that I have currently)

CMT1420

This one is 19 mm diagonal, available in 90cri and temp of 3000k. Wonder how hard I can drive it... 10s lipo pack? Heat my limiting factor?

(On for 20 seconds max for video with a 'focus light' for setting up shots)

Much to learn.

do you have a potted dial switch for variable output? if not, you kind of have to decide output vs runtime. 72W would get you around 8000 lumens and still roughly 1.5 hours runtime.
