I just returned from a trip to Fiji. I stayed on Matangi Island Resort, close to Taveuni. This was our second stay at this resort. The resort was excellent. The bures and landscaping were beautiful. The food was surprisingly good. The resort is not really a dive resort, and there was some initial glitches with the diving (e.g., first day had way too many divers per guide, about 14 divers with one dive guide at two sites with lots of current; frequently had tanks with minor leaks from primary o-ring). The problem with the dive guides was fixed by the second day after I talked with the owner. The diving at the sites near the resort were wonderful.
