MY 2006 DIVING STATS

Number of Dives: 85 total so far, but 76 in 2006.

Total Bottom Time: 51hrs, 2 minutes

Maximum Depth: 130ft

Coldest Water Dived: 40ºF

Warmest Water Dived: 85ºF

Dive Location Farthest From My Home: Mexico...cenotes in Tulum and drift in Cozumel

2006 New Certification / Education: PADI AOW, Rescue, PPB, Wreck, Nitrox, NACD Cavern

Favorite Dive: too many!! The caverns in Mexico were gorgeous though. So is our local diving. Hard to pick.

Least Favorite Dive: Probably the one in which my regulator started breathing water, or the one where I was witness to someone else's equipment failure. both fairly scary events.

New Equipment Purchased: lots...BP/W (Oxycheq), drysuit (Bare), reg (Apeks)

How I did on my 2005 Goals: I met and surpassed them all! One was to take AOW, which I did, and I took rescue as well. Another was to log 40 dives. I have 85.

Dive Goals for 2006: Perhaps get my DiveMaster...dive in another country...log at least a total of 125 dives, 150 if possible!

Other: hoping to get another couple dives in in 2006...the year is NOT over yet.

Favorite Dive: P.Lang( the reef was nice and also the vist was quite clear about 15-20m)

Least Favorite Dive: When i had to abort a dive after descent when hit currents about .75knts

New Equipment Purchased: lots...BP/W (DeepoutDoors), Mask (OMS), reg Bag (DeepoutDoors)

How I did on my 2005 Goals: I didnt meet my target of 50 dives total. Failed at getting my rescue by this year due to the fact that i set a target that i would have at least 50 dives before going for my rescue.

Dive Goals for 2007: To get my rescue and more dives in,though it's going to be quite tough. I set my target at about 20 dives in.

Favorite Dive: The Wisconsin in Lake Michigan 8/13/06

Least Favorite Dive: 8/12/06 My buddy had 2 regulators scubaflo on him, he went up way too quick. I was soooooo worried about him as a tried to surface as quickly as possible without getting bent.

New Equipment Purchased: OMG, too much to list. Best: Bare HD tech drysuit

How I did on my 2005 Goals: I dove a bunch, just like I wanted.

Dive Goals for 2006: 150 dives next year, tech certs, maybe cavern?

Other: Help get new divers in the water, get involved with classes and mentor new divers.

Least Favorite Dive: New Years Day dive when the mooring line parted, I lost the boat while doing deco, and coincidentally, I forgot the spool for my marker.

New Equipment Purchased: Ultrasonic cleaner

How I did on my 2006 Goals: I did OK, but there are still a few wrecks on my list.

Dive Goals for 2007: Buy a new drysuit, another primary light, a few more tanks, and maybe get cave certified. I also want to help out with the disabled veterans diving program.

Number of Dives: 240 total so far, but 173 in 2006, and the year's not over yet.

Maximum Depth: 133ft in Molokini Crater.

Coldest Water Dived: 46ºF

Dive Location Farthest From My Home: North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

2006 New Certification / Education: PADI Rescue, NAUI Nitrox, finally passed DIR-F

Favorite Dive: Hard question! The whale off Lanai? The ENORMOUS octopus that sat three feet below me and glared at us for several minutes? No, it would have to be passing Fundies.

Least Favorite Dive: The one where I flooded my mask just as I went over the edge of a wall, couldn't clear it, got vertigo and did back flips. That wasn't fun.

New Equipment Purchased: Wow -- Doubles regs, Salvo 21W HID light, Al backplate, doubles wing, two sets of doubled 72s, one set of doubled 85s, new dry suit (this is getting embarrassing . . . ), reel, and I think I bought the Photon Torpedo from Bob in 2006, too.

How I did on my 2006 Goals: I passed Fundies. I developed a pretty reliable back kick. I dove more than once a week through the whole year.

Dive Goals for 2007: Tech pass from Fundies, Cave 1 in the fall. Keep up the 2006 pace for diving. Get back down to Monterey again to dive with the wonderful people there, and make a trip to SoCal to visit my friends there, and meet some people I've only talked to on line. Get a good picture of me diving locally that I can frame! And get the Big Buddy dives going locally again this next summer.

Other: Planning on SEVERAL more dives yet this year . . . And with luck, a couple of them skills dives. I'm really eager to practice!

Favorite Dive: Shark Point, Phuket Thailand and King Cruiser Wreck, Phuket Thailand

Least Favorite Dive: second dive of the day, windy as hell, 19°C water, 17°C air temp, plus windchill, 3mm wetsuit no hood, but reef gloves, less then 1 meter vis, under weighted (testing new equipment..still working on trim), 2 weeks ago.

New Equipment Purchased: Mk17/S600. SeaQuest ProQD, mares avanti quatros, wetsuit, boots, 2 knives, UK C8 primary light, SL4 back up light and MiniQ40 back up back up light. an SMB, a small high vis line reel for that. A cave reel, a gear bag, a surface horn, sunnto vyper, cressi mask. this is my first set of gear. required for the course im doing next year. oh and next year ill be getting some tanks and another wetsuit (7/5 semi dry), probably a hooded vest, a dive skin, a thicker pair of boots, and if i can wrangle it, maybe some soft weights.

How I did on my 2006 Goals: Hmm. i would have liked to get (a lot) more diving in, but i did okay with the gear and i did get to break 30 meters (with an instructor), on a wreck no less

Dive Goals for 2007: Complete my AOW, Rescue, DM, Oxy provider. Nitrox, Wreck and Deep specialty courses.

Other: Looking way forward to doing my Diploma of Resort Management Course (Dive) in Melbounre, Australia
