I think this story emerges at least once per season, it was earlier last year though.

"Shark", "White" != "Great White Shark"

One of my buddies was buzzed by a 2.5m blue shark off Falmouth from the 45m stop upwards last week - they apparantly hit it on the nose and it went away - so they spent the rest of the deco back to back watching out..

Wow! would love to see a great white, poss from behind a stong cage ;o). Had no idea they could come into British Waters - would be an awesome experience to see one but im sure Id be damn scared!

There are always rumours about them in UK waters, unfortunately our traditional 3m vis means you probably wouldnt see many eve if there were.

Ive seen exactly one shark in UK waters and that was a Porbeagle shark last year.
The only others ive seen are in Sea World :)

Seals, dolphins, porpoises on the other hand get boring fast seeing them on every single dive trip :)

That is a problem I would LOVE to have. In Minnesota, all you see are Blue Gills, Sunnies, and an occasional Northern, Walleye, etc.

I'm looking forward to seeing seals, dolphins and porpoises swimming near me in their natural environment.

I know I really enjoyed watching dolphins & porpoises swimming along side the ferry as it crossed from England to Norway. That was so cool.

Ive never swum with the dolphins - they tend to play in the boat wake and we see them en-route to dive sites and we rarely if ever stop.

The seals at some sites in particular are so playful its annoying. Best description i can make of them are theyre like puppies. Swimming around you, nudging you, nibbling fins, rolling over and generally being curious. The one nibbling my fin and wanting me to go back down when i had 8 mins of deco remaining though was slightly annoying :)

Ive had lots of "good" dives but the one i did recently with seals everywhere at every depth ranks as my best ever. Unusual for me to like wildlife dives - im normally never happier than when im crawling through some rusting metal hulk of a wreck.

String,
Actually that sounds a damn fine description of DIR tech divers! :)

If i found a DIR diver nibbling my fin id (i) be worried and (ii) reach for my knife :)

Not that I doubt the sighting, but...
I predict that we will hear of even more unconfirmed GW sightings following this Fridays release of Open water.
