What looks like a feature from one direction may look decidedly different from another) find something on the bottom on your compass heading. Swim to it. Find something else. Swim to it. No adjustment required, you can spend your swim-time looking for cool stuff in the sand, and you will really have to try hard to miss your exit spot.
