For your size, you can pull anything 60" and under. It isn't all strength, its technique. I have a friend who is 5'1, 140lbs that shoots a 52" and 58" gun. The bands are easier to load underwater. If you chest load like I do, throw a small towel in your wetsuit either on your soloplex or rib cage. Another thing that will help is if you put a computer "mouse pad" for a cushion instead of a towel. Good luck and never, never, never try to board the boat or pass up a loaded gun. Shoot it on your safety stop or uncock the bands. Always load and unload in the water. One more thing, if you aren't used to spearing, don't shoot an AJ or Cobia right away even though you might see one. They are very strong swimmers and will drag you quite a bit even with a well placed shot. If you shoot a fish and he starts running around in circles, rotate in the same direction as he is swimming and always keep your gun pointed at him. That will stop him from circling you and causing your line from the gun to the shaft from wrapping around you causing a tangle that you really don't want to be in. Good luck and enjoy.

CGon,
There is a break in on never before stretched bands. Additionally, the type of Spearfishing done around here requires steel cable as most oil rigs/wreck/car bodies will cut anything else. Some freedivers use the Kevlar, but they're not shooting around the structure as much as a Scuba spearfisherman. Have fun and good luck.
