Hi everyone
I’m selling this very rare gold plated regulator (88/500).
It is virtually untouched and in all its original packaging.
Included as well as the regulator is a still packaged pin, a certificate signed by the late Ingvar Elfström and an engraved wooden case.
I’m willing to discuss offers north of £3000 as this was the most recent listing I could find which is now eight years old.

I have to say that this seems ridiculous. First off gold plating would instantly get worn off a regulator if you actually used it. Second, the actual cost of gold plating something the size of a regulator is likely no more than a USD $200-300. It really it not that expensive. I was curious and I just had to look it up. :)

I am sure this is a priceless one of a kind item, so I'll shut up look forward to the bidding!!!

A small correction.

One sold on the German eBay site, eBay.de, last November, for about 620 euros.

An acquaintance purchased it -- the whole deal: the teak box; the regulator and "scroll"; and a tie tack(?), of all things . . .

this is absolutely ridiculous, but also really cool. If I had enough money that I could replace my toilet paper with dollar bills I’d be all over it.

(Also, if you can afford this, you should probably be paying more in taxes)

Ah, didn’t see this.

I guess the price just became a bit more negotiable!

It seems to me that Poseidon, as always, was on the cutting edge of technology here. This regulator obviously solves a very real-world problem — that is, when your reg is in your mouth, no one can see your grillz!

Except the cheap bastards made the second stage with a plastic body

If it's a metal regulator, probably won't cost much in gold to electroplate it on,
The thickness will be very very thin,
A wild guess its probably less than 100$ of gold, probably less.

Maybe I should dig out my electroplating book, and gold plate my double hose reg,

It may seem extremely extravagant,,, but it didn't cost the manufacturer much more to make, it's just not many around,

It just was intended as a display piece, for Poseidon dealers, years ago; and I recall seeing a few, behind glass, in the 1990s -- simply celebrating a discontinued model that had been around, at in some form, since 1958.

A friend who had one for the last twenty five years or so, agreed to put it on a tank, last year -- perfect IP.

I have yet to see any of them actually used . . .
