just did my 16th dive! and my weights have dropped to 7.6 lbs! woohoo.. i feel freeier underwater!

FYI : 0.5mm wetsuit. Jet fins, seaquest balance back inflate . I dive in warm water.

nice..

Thanks! I'll stick to the 7.6 lbs for a few more dives...

how far do you guys think i can remove weights with the present setup? 6 lbs?

at 7.6 lbs... I sink slowly... breathing out... sometimes i push my hands up... as I cross the 4 feet depth... i sink like a rock lol

Lance, my man!!! Sounds like you are hitting your stride as a diver, enjoying the freedom of "inner space." Wear the weights you need to be comfortable descending and in doing a safety stop at the end of the dive. Remember that every tank, aluminum or steel, weighs less at the end of a divethan at the start. Also remember that other things can affect weighting- water salinity, the exposure gear you wear, other equipment you may carry in the future- camera, line and spool, etc. and even variations in your own body mass. Ignore anyone who says you should use less weight (or more weight) who is not on scene diving with you. I have had it with casual divers who claim they only need a certain amount of weight, end up underweighted, fight it the whole dive which as a result causes them to burn through their air. They are a hazard in the water, and everyone or at least someone else besides them ends up having a much shorter than planned dive.
Stay active, stay safe, and enjoy every dive and learn from every dive!

Thanks Divemaster Dennis...

i'll probably use these weights for the next 6 dives or so... I get to dive on weekends.. sometimes I skip a week. but i dive often in open water with good company. Mostly dive masters and rescue divers. A friendlyl group.

Almost all the tanks i've seen are Aluminum 80.

I can say that I was able to successfully hold depth at 15ft with 500psi. ( I had about 800 at the end of our dive... I dumped my air to get to 500 lol)

well.. there are some buddies who are diving with 6 lbs and 2 lbs. they must have balls of lead lol... but again... they have like a thousand dives up their sleeves.

I'll work some more on my breathing.. and maybe just maybe i'll be able to drop a few lbs more.. heheh.. then i'll strip the suit lol
