Yeah, as you say, "Criticism Is Easy, Art Is Difficult ..".
I've been a regular attendee at this for the past several years, caught both sessions last week.
Most of your criticism is valid at a certain level. It could be better in a lot of ways, including several you mentioned.

I keep going back because with whatever flaws the films, and the show that surrounds it, have, it's still an awesome way to spend a couple of hours for $15 each night (the two nights are different, as you pointed out).

I thought about a PSA here on SB about the show, but I note that this year they came real close to selling out. So I selfishly decided to keep quiet about it. But you let the cat out of the bag. I hope your review discourages enough people so I can still get tickets next year.

Good interesting review. I think if you research the various film festivals and competitions out there, you will start to see the same names. Entering your work in competitions and festivals is not for everyone. Those who do it tend to be a small group and know each other because of it. That may be why the event felt like a " closed world ".

I have not had the opportunity to attend since I live on the east coast, but at a minimum, it should have been fun and educational to watch. You can learn a lot by watching other people's work.
