Has been dove twice, then put away in its bag for 11 years and is in perfect shape. Would you buy it for $250? This will be my first BC and my dive shop owner says he doesn't like them, but the consensus on this board seems to be otherwise. Please advise o wise people:D

You appear to have two questions: 1) Should you buy a Ranger, and 2) Should you buy an 11 year old Ranger for $250. I would buy a Ranger as my first BC. In fact, I did. Great BC, left it for a BP/W, but still have it. I would not pay $250 for an 11 year old one. I would pay $150, IF the bladder holds air overnight.

I think Zeagle's are great BCs. Mine is 16 years old and still kicking butt.

Zeagle has a lifetime waranty but the waranty only covers the original owner, so if you're buying it used you are on your own.

the webbing and and other parts should be ok ..the bladder would be my main concern ..but even if it needs a replacement ..i would pay 200 for it .i'm on my second ranger just bought a new ltd i refuse to dive without a zeagle attached to me

The problem with buying an 11 year old piece of gear is that....well....it's 11 years old.

If it was stored properly, it may be fine, but I would certainly have it inspected and triple check the inner bladder to be sure it is in good working order.

I would also probably put on a new inflator.

Best of luck and dive safe,

Scott

......the advantage to an 11 yr old BC is that, in only 14 more years, it can be considered to have become a 'classic' BC....so better buy it now before the speculators drive up the price!

You should market it as "instant experience." Who wants to show up at the dive boat with their gear all screaming "NEWBIE?"

Well, I bought it today for $250. It is in immaculate condition, looks like its never seen water. I also got a pair of Force fins in very good condition, a very nice backpack style dive bag, a nice dive log and 20 pounds of soft weights. I think I did allright:D

Congrats!

I LOVE my Force Fins and dive a Zeagle BC, too.

(BTW. The Cherry Valley you live in isn't the one on Catalina Island, is it?)

No! I noticed that name came up on my GPS when I went to Catalina last month. I live in between San Bernardino and Palm Springs, 80 miles east of LA.
